There really weren’t enough companies I’d want to work for to justify putting on a tie, but I had to go because CarMax was there!
I asked the recruiter if he knew of Doug DeMuro!

My school had a career fair yesterday and today with 80 companies I believe. None of them were of interest to me.

Went to a career fair last week at NYU. Waste of time. I met with 15 or so companies, half of them just said “Oh yeah, just go on our site and apply to what you are interested in.” I can do that at home, thanks.
Some, I had decent conversations with. I gave each of them my resume, took their business card, and followed up with them through email. Only one has responded.
The actual career fair? It looked like this. So many students pushing and shoving, it was so rude. In a way, you had to be an asshole just to prevent others from cutting you off.

That’s kinda how I heard our’s was. Since its open to every student(we have over 30k students) it was just too many people for comparatively not that many companies. It’s a great opportunity for student but it’s not very personal.

I remember when my school had a career day there was a mechanic from a Ford dealership there. I had a nice talk with him, especially since he had a turbocharger that had been cut apart for demonstration purposes.

Thankfully my school’s fair wasn’t that bad (no pushing/shoving), but movement was quite difficult. This was at the all-majors fair though, so I knew to expect the worst (companies looking for anyone, wanting a computer science degree to work on the help desk, etc.).
